Now that a new iPad is about to launch, we figured it was time for you sheep… er, “consumers” to learn a bit more about your precious $600 device.
Release Date
The original iPad released exactly 2 years, 6 months and 21 days ago (as of this writing), and was originally priced at $499, $599 and $699 US. (2010)
The iPad 2, as it was called, released 1 year, 6 months and 29 days ago, and was sold for the same retail price as the original iPad. (2011)
The third generation of the iPad was simply called ‘iPad’, or ‘New iPad’, and it was released to the public 7 months and 8 days ago (222 days). It too was priced the same as both the original iPad and the iPad 2. (2011)
The next iPad, currently unreleased, is the iPad Mini. It’s set to launch on November 2nd. (2012) The iPad mini will be priced at $329 for the 16 GB model, $429 for the 32 GB and $529 for the 64 GB. (2012)
And finally, we’ve made our way down to the latest iPad announcement, the iPad 4.
The iPad 4 is priced the same as the first three iPad models, and it too is set to release on the second of this November. (2012)
Now, look closely at those dates, and tell me what you see. If you see two iPad models releasing in 2011, and three in 2012, then you my friend have a good eye!
There’s no doubt that Apple makes wonderful products, but you gotta wonder how many more of these yearly traditions we’ll all have to endure before people start to question why they purchased a high end and expensive toy that will only become outdated in six months time. I get that there’s that whole “gotta have the best” mentality, but releasing new products with little to no technological leap each and every year, all while applying artificial limits on products already sold just isn’t a very valuable way of doing business. Worst of all, Apple isn’t even to blame for their yearly product releases, we are, as guess what! If we stopped buying expensive products every year, and instead put that money to good use, such as paying to feed the poor, and hiring prostitutes named Sugar, the yearly product epidemic would instantly go away. The world would be fed. The poor would have homes. And prostitute suicide rates would go way down!
Anyways, I’ve just got the sudden craving to go out and buy a pound of sugar at the local red light Walmart.
