Local businesses form the backbone of neighborhood economies, keeping money in the community and connecting residents with services they can trust. Finding these companies becomes easier with business directories that present verified customer feedback and ratings.
Rural villages maintain their distinct character through small business ventures like tea rooms and hardware stores. From artisanal goods to modern technology, these enterprises help define what makes Cheshire unique.

Local events
Local events help promote a community’s unique character. They celebrate food, entertainment, and history while fostering healthy connections with neighbors. These events can also serve as fundraisers for charities or schools. For example, a charity scavenger hunt could include a map to popular buildings in the area and clues leading to prizes.
Small businesses form the heart of Cheshire’s local economy. From family-run farms in the countryside to quaint shops in market towns like Chester, Nantwich, and Macclesfield, these enterprises contribute to a vibrant local ecosystem. They thrive when they appear in curated online listings where visitors can easily find them.
Westchester hosts a variety of cultural events, from art exhibitions to artisan markets. The Katonah Arts Walk features galleries, local shops and artist pop-ups while Green Ossining’s Earth Day festival encourages eco-friendly shopping and outdoor activities. Meanwhile, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts presents concerts and special programming in the spring.
Local treasures
A large part of what makes West Chester special is its distinctive historic character, reflected in the architecture and streetscapes that make up so much of our town’s landscape. The Chester County Historic Preservation Network (CCHPN) is proud to support the effort to protect these resources by connecting individuals, organizations and local governments through communication and education.
CCHPN is excited to be working with the Planning Commission to update an interactive property atlas for 1777 that represents historic resources, public roads and points of interest such as mills, taverns and fords throughout all of the Chester County municipalities. View the map and learn more here.
Whether you are an owner of a historic resource or simply interested in learning more about the history of your home, we have compiled a directory of contractors and trades-people who specialize in the repair and maintenance of historic buildings. Many of these businesses and individuals participated at the recent Chester County Preservation Fair, presented by Historic Yellow Springs, Inc. and CCHPN.
