Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item’s next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon’s price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Crests

For instance it’s a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you’re planning to make. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
