    World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item’s Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

    Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of an item’s leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It’s an excellent indicator of an item’s quality and how much damage it will be capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item’s full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula that determines the value of an item’s stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value, and also that sockets have gems that increase the item’s overall value. This can result in an item’s ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance it can increase the item’s haste, or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

    Item Stats

The item’s stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon’s stat modifications that are in turn boosted by the player’s level.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item’s stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item’s level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within that range unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

    Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items . It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade probability that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

    Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
